Jewelry Types
Niobium: is an elemental metal and is strong yet flexible and is slightly heavier than 316L stainless steel. Niobium is chemically non-reactive. Few people are sensitive to niobium.
316L Stainless Steel: 316LVM F-138 or 316L implant grade stainless steel of the many stainless steels available, only 316LVM and 316 L stainless steel are comprised of several metals including nickel, to which some people are sensitive.
Titanium 6AL4V: titanium is an extremely lightweight, elemental metal. The specific allow used for body jewelry is 6AL4V (60 parts aluminium, 40 parts vanadium), specifically 136 grade. Titanium is the most bio- compatible of metals due to its total resistance to attack by body fluids.
Titanium ASTM F – 67: ASTM F-67 commercially Pure Titanium is 99.9% pure titanium and is super bendable making it great for industrial ear projects.
14 or 18K White Gold: White gold refers to an alloy of gold and other white metals such as silver, palladium, or nickel. The natural colour of white gold is light grey, so jewellery made of white gold is typically coated in highly reflective rhodium (sometimes coated in platinum and palladium), adding a more brilliant shine
14 or 18K Yellow Gold: gold is too soft in it pure form to make jewelry; it is normally made into an alloy by mixing it with other metals. The portion of pure gold metals determines the Karat rating.
Black PVD: is a super bio-compatible titanium coating on 316LVM stainless steel. Titanium is vaporized as an arc then electrically deposited onto the body jewelry. This is an implent-grade process and is autoclave.
Dental acrylic: is a very strong type of acrylic used is dental applications. Unlike regular acrylic, dental acrylic is highly durable.
Acrylic: this jewelry is very fragile! It is not as strong as stainless steel or titanium jewelry. It should be worn as a novelty item, instead of continuous wear. Recommended for healed piercing only.
